PTZ control priorities

iCatcher Console is able to prioritise PTZ commands. This gives an added level of control to the user. iCatcher can now protect local users from surrendering PTZ control to remote viewers or other PTZ tasks.

Setting priorities

The priority level can be set from 0 to 100. Commands with a higher priority will take precedence over lower priority commands. For example, setting the Local PTZ Control to 70 and the Remote PTZ Control to 60 means that a remote user will not be able to override control of a PTZ camera when the Local User is moving the camera.

Linger period

The linger period is the amount of time the system waits before releasing control to the next command. If a local user has control and the linger time is 15 seconds, then a command with a lower priority will not be able to take control for 15 seconds after the last local user command.

Queue action

There are two actions that can be performed at the end of a PTZ queue. Firstly, the Queue can be cleared. This means that all commands that occurred whilst a higher priority action is taking place will be ignored. When nothing is selected, all commands that arrived whilst a higher priority command is in control will be executed after any set linger period.

Go Home at the end of the queue

When the Go Home at the end of the queue box is checked, the camera will return to its preset Home position at the end of the queue and linger period. This is useful to ensure a PTZ camera is pointing in the correct direction after a user or action has moved it.

Action based priorities

Action based PTZ movements can either use the global priority or customs based priorities. This gives added flexibility when deciding that a trip wire or IO event should take priority of other such actions or commands. The custom priority level is available on the actions settings window under the specific event. Please see the actions help for more information.
