video server help
Running more than one copy of i-Catcher Video Server
i-Catcher
Video Server can be run more than once on any computer it is installed on.
This is useful if you have more than one supported capture card installed,
and wish to take advantage of both cards.
To facilitate this, i-Catcher Video Server supports a system of Profiles.
Profiles store all settings related to one particular application of
i-Catcher Video Server. For example, you may have one profile that holds the
settings to use 3 out of the 4 ports on a Euresys card, with monitoring
tured off, while also having a profile that instructs i-Catcher Video Server
to use all 4 ports of a ViewCast card with monitoring turned on. Loading
profiles can be done in one click.
The Profiles Manager
All management of profiles is done with the profile manager, which can be
accessed using the "Profiles" button on the main
window.
New
This button creates a new
profile. The profile is created with sensible default settings.
Save As
This button creates a new
profile, but the profile contains the current settings.
Delete
This button deletes an existing
profile. Neither the default nor the active profile can be deleted. If you
wish to remove either of them, you must select another profile as default or
active first.
Rename
This button will rename an existing profile. The
active and/or default profiles can be renamed. If you attempt to rename a
profile to be the same as an existing profile, an error will be given
informing you of an existing profile name, and the profile will not be
renamed.
Make Default
This button makes the selected profile the default
profile. The default profile is the profile that will be used when i-Catcher
Video Server starts, unless it is overridden by supplying a profile name on
the command line (see below).
Switch To
This button switches i-Catcher Video Server to the
currently selected profile. i-Catcher Video Server will be stopped, and then
restarted, in order to take into account changes in the selected capture
card.
Overriding the default profile
When using multiple profiles, it may be preferable to start i-Catcher
Video Server with a profile other than the default, especially if the
default is set for automatic start, or minimise on start. The way to do this
is to specify the name of the profile you wish to use on the command line
you use to start i-Catcher Video Server. For example, if you have a profile
called "Security" which you would like to start, but your default
profile is "Wildlife", and is set to automatically start and
minimise to the system tray, then you can override the default
"Wildlife" profile by starting i-Catcher Video Server with
something like:
IVS.EXE Security
This will start another instance of i-Catcher Video
Server, which will then switch to the "Security" profile.
